Friends, Members and Wannabees
This is our own special area of the church web site, just for members, "wannabees" friends of the congregation. These pages are a "subdomain", not directly linked from the main site. You can reach this at www.members.hollywoodlutheran.org. Our main site doesn't have the word "members" in front of it: www.hollywoodlutheran.org.
Anybody is welcome to look at this page. But it is especially for those who are familiar with our congregation, or want to become more familiar with us.
Here are some important thins for our members:
Your Offerings keep our doos open! God bless you! If you're a regular giver, your 2008 Offering Envelopes are waiting for you in the Narthex. Please use them. They are a gentle reminder that regular stewardship keeps our parish on track, and cheerful stewardship pleases the Lord! and your extra or special gifts make all kinds of wonderful things possible.
Membership Directories - are 2 years old, but new nes will be published in November 2009. The "proof" copy is circulating after Sunday worship, Wednesday Bible studies, and is in the office the rest of the time. Please take a moment to check your listing for completness.
The style of the current Directory will continue in the new one, with extensive "Yellow Pages" which are also available in the Narthex as a separate booklet--full of helpful information about our ministry and our community. Give one to a friend! But keep the Membership Directory confidential, please!
Work with us, people! We have a lot of visitors at worship! Never a week goes by without someone visiting Hollywood Lutheran Church. If you are a regular: you have a wonderful role to play, to become the new friend which a visitor is waiting to meet!
Volunteer Your Love!!
Giving of yourself is the backbone of the body of Christ! Please be involved in Hollywood Lutheran Church! There are many opportunities:
- Community Food Pantry -- a regular volunteer is needed to go shopping! We have a fund to help stock the pantry with items. Work with Chalres Charles Brockway and Susan Tapia to look for sales, go to bix box stores--whatever-- to keep our Pantry stocked and ready to help the poor and hungry.
- Hospitality -- this is an important expression of our love, especially on Sunay mornings and Wednesday nights. On Sunday mornings, work with Marie Sorensen and Carl Hunter, especially in the clean-up area, to keep Sunday fellowship hospitality moving smoothly. If you're a "regular", you could take over the upstairs Coffee Cart (make, fill, serve, clean-up). On Wednesday nights around 6:00, we can use a regular volunteer to "prep" Hoick Conference Room for Potluck, to make coffee, etc. and take this load off Pastor Dan.
- Libraries -- The Long Library is taking shape; and a regular volunteer to keep the Choir's music Library in order. Work with Drake Lopez and Carolyn Bryant to find, mark, label, and re-file music to keep the Choir going.
- Bulletin Boards -- we have important display bulletin boards all over our buildings, which need attention. A regular volunteer can process incoming mail for posters and announcements, sort, post and remove outdated materials. Get creative if you like --- to catch the attention of members and visitors alike. Several specialized boards are used to reach the 12-Step community, youth, etc. Call the Church Office if you're interested.
- Archives -- a regular volunteer is needed to work with Joan Riedell to keep the archives in good order. Later this year, because of Organ Chamber construction, we will need to relocate the Archives to one of the Tower rooms, so having things in order before-hand would be helpful.
- Community Garden -- a volunteer liaison is needed to work with neighbors who are cultivating in our Garden Lot. Keep an ear to the ground, so to speak, for their needs, problems, predators; do some neighborhood publicity to promote the Community Garden.
- Hollywood Call Back -- a volunteer is needed to work with Pastor Dan to map out the full strategy for this emerging community service to the Hollywood entertainment people around us. Next quarterly event is set for June. Someone is needed to track down and manage catered food service for each event.
- Hollywood Reporter -- a self-starter is needed to feed news to the Hollywood Spotlight. Are you "nosey"? Curious? Talkative? We need someone to regularly write copy for the newsletter, and especially to be attentive to "people stories" in and beyond our congregation.
- Photographer – our bulletin boards, newsletters, brochures and web sites are more interesting with pictures. A regular volunteer is needed just to take pictures of things and people and get them routed to others who need them.
- Web Sites -- even if you're not a webmaster, a regular proof-reader would be helpful to keep these sites current by putting together new information, finding errors and making a list of what needs to be updated. Work with Pastor Dan to make these sites really perform as intended!
